Our Services

As your landscape matures, its maintenance needs will be changing. Our ongoing care protects your investment from the ravages of time, weather and pests. Cedar Cove Landscaping offers a wide variety of services tailored to meet your lawn care and landscaping needs. Over time, these services will add far more value than their modest costs and deliver results that you'll be sure to appreciate.

LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE/PLANT BED CARE

We'll inspect your planting beds for weeds on a monthly basis. If we find that weeds are present, we'll remove them by hand or control them with an herbicide application. We’ll also make sure your plants are fertilized on a regular basis; keep an eye out for insect and disease problems; and prune your plants as needed to encourage good growth habits and control size. Here’s what we recommend for most landscape plants:

Winter Pruning – is recommended for ornamental grasses, roses, woody perennials and dormant shrubs. It’s also a great time to selectively prune small trees, crape myrtles and other deciduous plants.

Spring Pruning – is recommended for many types of evergreen shrubs. Late spring is a great time to prune overgrown plants.

Summer Pruning - general shaping and shearing.

Fall Pruning – general shaping and shearing. Herbaceous perennials can be cut back in December after a hard freeze.

LAWN MOWING

We offer weekly and bi-weekly services for mowing, edging, string trimming and blowing off all paved surfaces. You may choose from weekly or bi-weekly intervals. Services are available from mid-March through November.

The natural recycling of grass clippings by leaving them on the lawn when mowing instead of bagging them is proving to be a simple and effective way to save landfill capacity. In addition, it can reduce fertilizer requirements for your lawn. In the early 1960s, it was commonly believed that grass clippings were a major part of thatch and that removing clippings would slow thatch development. However, research later determined that thatch buildup is caused by grass stems, shoots and roots. The clippings are rapidly decomposed and valuable nutrients are released into the soil.

For these reasons, we recommend returning the clippings to the lawn. However, in instances where clipping removal is necessary, we offer bagging and disposal for an additional fee.

FERTILIZATION, SEEDING AND WEED CONTROL

Regular applications of balanced fertilizer will provide your lawn with the nutrients it needs for lush, healthy growth. We’ll prevent weeds from gaining a foothold in your lawn with timely applications of both pre- and post-emergent herbicides. In addition, we recommend aerating and reseeding fescue lawns in the fall.

For fescue lawns, we recommend the following services:

  • Early-spring fertilization with crabgrass control (March)
  • Early-summer fertilizer with crabgrass control (May)
  • Fall fertilizer (September)
  • Lawn aeration and reseeding (October)
  • Late-fall fertilization (late November)

For Bermuda lawns, we recommend the following services:

  • Early-spring fertilization with crabgrass control (March)
  • Early-summer fertilizer with crabgrass control (May)
  • Summer fertilizer (mid-June)
  • Late-summer fertilizer (late July)
  • Fall fertilizer and pre-emergent (September)

For weed control, we recommend that most lawns be sprayed twice per year to help control broadleaf weeds.

  • Spring weed control (April)
  • Fall weed control (November)
  • For larger properties and residents of Tennessee, lawn weed control services are provided through Weed Man of Chattanooga.

SPRING/FALL CLEAN-UP

Twice a year our crews will remove leaves and other debris from your lawn and planting beds to help maintain an attractive and uncluttered appearance.
